Reports To: Coordinator, ECP

Salary: $150 per visit, five (5) total visits

Primary Purpose: Expected to work remotely, not at ESC Region 13. Work independently under the supervision of the Coordinator of the Education Certification Program. Observe, monitor performance and provide constructive feedback to improve teaching effectiveness to first year educators in special education participating in the Region 13 Alternative Certification Program.

Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Master's Degree (preferred)
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
  • Principal Certificate (optional)
  • Superintendent Certificate (optional)

Experience:
  • Teaching experience in Special Education (minimum of 5 years)
  • Managing self-directed projects
  • Mentoring and developing beginning teachers
  • Evaluating/documenting/providing feedback on teacher performance and effectiveness

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Current knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment practices
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Coaching and mentoring of new teachers in various stages of development
  • Previous experience working with beginning teachers
  • Knowledge of working on a Title 1 campus (preferred)
  • Ability to manage technology to complete coaching

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a representative of the ESC Center- displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and the public.
  • Conduct (5) 45 minute on-site formal observations to first year interns; Conduct an individualized pre-conference and post-conference
  • Provide timely written feedback to intern, campus administrator and ProgramSpecialist of the Region 13 Educator Certification Program
  • Develop knowledge and skills of first year teachers in the Region 13 Educator Certification Program
  • Mentor and coach first year teachers in the use of effective educational practices, materials, and services to develop instructional knowledge and skills specific to teaching assignments
  • Remain knowledgeable in current curriculum and instruction issues, educational trends and integration of technology in instruction for beginning teachers
  • Attend certification classes with the beginning teachers as needed
