Salary: This is a full-time, 12-month (232 days), grant-funded position for 3 years with a minimum annual salary of $61,000. Position duration is 3 years but is dependent upon grant funds from the Texas Education Agency.

Position Overview:
Instructional materials are among the most important tools educators use to improve and support student achievement. The Education Service Center supports districts in the selection and implementation of high-quality instructional materials to ensure equity for all students through access to grade-level, rigorous content.

In response to the COVID crisis, TEA is providing districts with free access to high quality instructional materials as part of the Texas Home Learning 3.0 (THL) initiative. The team is seeking Texas Home Learning Implementation Specialist to support districts in the use of THL materials for Prekindergarten, Mathematics K-5, and Reading Language Arts K-5 directly and in coordination with TEA. The role entails strong collaboration with the larger academics team, other ESC's content specialists, and TEA. The Implementation Specialist will need to draw upon previous experience in a school or district to implement curriculums and assessments, specifically in the content area for the specific role (Prekindergarten, Mathematics K-5, or Reading Language Arts K-5). A strong knowledge of the TEKS is required.

Primary Purpose:
  • Oversees cohort groups piloting and adopting THL instructional materials participating in the ESC support pilot.
  • Oversees and executes content-specific research-based instructional strategies training to educators and leaders.
  • Participates in TEA product academies to develop and become certified as THL advisor.
  • Manage the collection of district feedback and summarize recommendations for THL instructional materials and training continuous improvement
Education/Certification:
  • Texas Teacher Certification in requested content area required
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university; advanced degree in curriculum-related program is preferred
Experience:
  • At least four (4) years of experience in teaching, programmatic, leadership, supervisory, or administrative roles relevant to education in the content area within school districts, education service centers, university settings and/or statewide initiatives
  • Experience in public presentations and communicating complex information
  • Skill in management of projects toward outcomes, recognizing the need to prototype and iterate along the way and expecting the ultimate design to look different than the original idea
  • Development of effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups including district administrators, teachers, education experts, and all other relevant stakeholders
  • Effective communication with a variety of stakeholders specifically as it relates to instructional strategies
  • Success leveraging different strategies and interpersonal skills to move the work forward, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability when presented with a change of course and deadline
  • A desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback and continuously improve

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in application software (Microsoft Office, word processing, spreadsheets, databases), hard copy and electronic file maintenance
  • Prior experience using data analysis software and communication tools
  • Ability to research and apply results in a client-centered and meaningful way
  • Knowledge of key research from leading experts in the instructional coaching field

  • Proficient with conducting virtual learning and meetings with clients

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a representative of the Center, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public.
