Title: Education Specialist: Reading Specialist

Reports to: Coordinator: Department of Educator Quality

Salary: This is a full time 12 month position with a minimum annual salary of $59,457.00

Primary Purpose of the Position:
Completing the Reading Specialist certification curriculum; Develop Scope and Sequence of Reading Specialist Certification Program; Work collaboratively with Online Course Education Specialist to create modules in e-campus; Facilitate and teach Science of Teaching Reading to ECP interns; Writing and maintaining the Science of Teaching Reading (STR) curriculum; support Reading Academies as needed.

Minimum Certification/Education:
  • Master's Degree required
  • Current Texas elementary teaching certificate
  • Training in developing and writing reading curriculum
Minimum Experience:
  • Recent teaching experience, five (5) years minimum
  • Early Literacy training
  • Experience in curriculum writing
  • Experience in self-directed work
Special Knowledge & Skills:
  • Current knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment practices
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to give clear and specific feedback
  • Knowledge of current technology, curriculum instruction, and assessment practices
  1. Serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public.
  2. Provide test preparation for state required certification exams for cohort participants; provide as needed.
  3. Research and develop educational programs, materials, curriculum and services related to student assignments.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.
