Project Coordinator: Center for Effective Schools/School Improvement

Salary: This is a (40 hours a week-12 month) full-time position at 232 days with an annual salary range of $63,906-71,896.

Primary Purpose: To provide co-managerial supervision for all aspects of the development of Center for Effective Schools, with an emphasis on working with the Division of School Improvement at the Texas Education Agency to support implementation, monitoring, and intervention for state and federal accountability. Two project coordinators will work in tandem to lead the project including such activities as content development, website maintenance, content and logistics for training opportunities, development of web-based tools and resources, recruitment of personnel, customer support and more.

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree in education or related field preferred
  • Valid teaching and principal certification preferred
  • Training or certifications in field related to web development and/or marketing are a plus

  • Three plus (3+) years teaching experience preferred
  • Three plus (3+) years of recent leadership/administrative experience at a campus or district level preferred
  • Experience with adult learners, including delivering professional development to strong and/or challenging audiences
  • Experience developing content materials in educational settings
  • Experience working with innovative school improvement and turnaround initiatives preferred
  • Experience working effectively both as a team member and team leader on major projects preferred
  • Experience with the development and maintenance of websites preferred
  • Experience managing projects to successful completion on time and within budget preferred
  • Experience coordinating communication among multiple departments and stakeholders preferred

  • Excellent organizational, written, communication, client service and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of best instructional leadership practices in rural, urban, and charter schools/districts
  • Knowledge of highly effective school improvement and turnaround practices
  • Strong knowledge of intervention requirements for campuses that earn a rating of Improvement Required and districts that earn a D or F through the State Accountability System, and with campuses identified for Comprehensive, Targeted, and Additional Targeted Support under ESSA
  • Ability to work closely in tandem with another leader and within a team
  • Proficient in the use of technology for workplace productivity and presentation
  • Knowledge of current research based practices in education
  • Ability to create and develop content around the topic of school improvement using research based resources and effective practices based on knowledge of adult learning
  • Understanding of marketing concepts including target audience, clarity of message and client access to information/resources
  • Ability to effectively deliver training to adults
  • Background knowledge of adult learning, content development and online education
  • Motivated to seek out new and creative venues to communicate to target audience
  • Self-starter, team player, fast learner, energetic
  • Ability to manage the logistics of multiple projects simultaneously

  • Serve as a representative of the Center for Effective Schools (CES), displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public.
  • Develop strong understanding of the Effective Schools Framework in order to support the development of the Center for Effective Schools.
  • Work in close collaboration with the TEA to support implementation, monitoring, and intervention for state and federal accountability.
  • Support content development for the Center for Effective Schools.
  • Support the development of a website to house all resources, information and support for the Center for Effective Schools.
  • Co-manage the design aspects of all Center for Effective Schools products by coordinating the work of teams and contractors.
  • Communicate and coordinate all decisions with state agency to ensure the goals of the project are being met.
  • Translate client requirements into solutions involving diverse services and products.
  • Oversee project revenue/expenses and ensure all projects stay on budget.
  • Track progress for tasks/projects and report to Project Manager in timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in the selection, training and evaluation of personnel including the development of the processes for selection, training and evaluation.
  • In partnership with a team, develop and manage a state-wide professional development event to support the work of the Center for Effective Schools.
  • Assist in the training of and ongoing collaboration with personnel from all educational service centers to ensure consistency of message and training across the state.
  • Consult with designated outside vendor to develop, administer and analyze the results of a statewide survey.
  • Assist with the creation of and communication about new features and technologies to support the vision of the Center for Effective Schools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
