Recruiter Contractor: Troops to Teachers

Reports To: Project Coordinator: Troops to Teachers

Salary: This is contractor position that will be paid at $110 per billable hour; contract not to exceed $14,549 (including travel expenses).

Primary Purpose: Recruiters will provide Troops to Teachers (TTT) briefings to military personnel on military installations, education centers, or any public venue, and virtually (using personal computer/lab top device). Recruiters will make initial contact with military units in the area and schedule TTT briefings. Briefing schedules will be provided to the state coordinator on a monthly basis. Recruiters will obtain contact information from each attendee at each briefing and return contact sheets to the state office after each briefing. A typical work day is between 4 to 8 hours. Recruiters will be trained by the state office tin Austin, TX. Recruiters are not employees of Region 13 Education Service Center or the Troops to Teachers organization. Each independent contract recruiter is expected to office out of their homes and use their own technology or the technology provided by the state office. Compensation is on a contract basis and no federal, state, or local taxes are deducted from compensation. As contractor, there are no benefits such as insurance or leave of any kind.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Texas Teacher Certification

  • Minimum three years military experience
  • PK-12 teaching experience
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel

  • Serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public
  • Serve as a liaison and coordinates communication between military bases, education service center personnel, retirement services, and transition services offices
  • Collaborates with TTT project coordinator in outreach to certification programs and school districts in support of TTT participants.
  • Collaborates with Troops to Teachers (TTT) project coordinator in providing counseling and advice to military veterans on certification procedures, programs and employment opportunities as teachers
  • Conduct briefings on Troops to Teachers (live/ virtually) and attend events as required by TTT project coordinator
  • Research and maintain currency in the teacher certification processes and programs for the State of Texas
  • Maintains a positive problem solving attitude
  • Ensure documentation is submitted timely to the state TTT office.
  • Responsible for finding and attending a minimum of 2 events per month
  • Responsible for billing invoices according to state office standards
  • Keep event hours within limits set by Project Coordinator
  • Responsible for documenting upcoming scheduled events, keeping track of hours,and all information required by state office on Google docs spread sheet
  • All paid scheduled events must be approved by Project Coordinator
  • Acquire conformation from state office and other recruiters before scheduling events outside your quadrant
