PFE Book Study with Canvas Mini-Course

Our blended, hybrid training includes in-person and online meetings along with a Canvas course focused on Parent and Family Engagement (PFE). This course will be a book study of Dr. Steven M. Constantino’s book Engage Every Family - Five Simple Principles.

This training has been developed in collaboration with federal program directors, family engagement coordinator, and a parent liaison.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

• Increase their understanding Parent and Family Engagement (PFE)
• Increase their exposure to the five simple principles to engage every family by Dr. Constantino
• Understand ways to increase the implementation of PFE within their organization beyond mere compliance
• Explore ways to enhance communication, collaboration, and community engagement both internally and with families for stronger student academic outcomes
• Collaborate and discuss PFE topics with other like districts and other personnel with similar job responsibilities

The comprehensive meeting dates for this book study will be:

• Oct 17, 2023 (Kick-Off Meeting, In-person and Virtual via Zoom)
• Nov 14, 2023 (Zoom)
• Dec 5, 2023 (Zoom)
• Jan 3, 2024 (Zoom)
• Feb 13, 2024 (Zoom)
• Mar 4, 2024 (Zoom)
• Apr 2, 2024 (Final Celebration Meeting, In-person)

As part of the CANVAS course, participants will be provided with a pacing guide, special resources, and interactive assignments related to each chapter. Most participants have already received their book from Region 13 or from their district. However, if you do not have a book available after checking your district resources, please email the POC for a book.
