Elementary RLA: SCR & ECR 101: A Teacher’s Guide to Student Responses - San Marcos
- San Marcos Campus
- 6 CPE Credits
- $100
Short Constructed Responses (SCR) and Extended Constructed Responses (ECR) can feel complex—for both teachers and students. This session breaks it all down in a clear, practical way so you can more confidently support student success. Participants will unpack what SCRs and ECRs ask students to know and do, taking a deep dive into the language of the rubrics to better understand expectations for strong responses.
Through guided practice, teachers will analyze student work, examine how responses are evaluated across performance levels, and build a shared understanding of what distinguishes stronger responses from developing ones.
Throughout the session, participants will engage in discussion and calibration to strengthen their ability to apply the rubric with clarity and consistency. With a clearer understanding of expectations, teachers will be better equipped to guide students toward more precise, well-developed written responses and provide feedback that supports stronger writing over time.
