What are TEKS?
TEKS stands for Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. These state-mandated educational standards guide educators and students in Texas schools. They cover subjects such as reading, math, science, social studies, art, music, and physical education. These standards help teachers plan lessons and ensure that learning is consistent across Texas for all students, no matter where they live.
The Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) regularly reviews and updates the TEKS keeping them current and effective. This ensures that Texas students are well-prepared for their future.
