Afterschool programs expand access to after-school academic enrichment and other activities that complement and reinforce regular academic programs with instructional and recreational strategies and training.

ESC Region 13 provides a number of services and resources, including Out-of-School Time workshops and self-paced courses and Student Leadership Development. Region 13 also provides specific support for Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE), programs federally funded through 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC), and administered on the state level by TEA.

Why Afterschool Programs?

  • Provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours
  • Help students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math, providing students with a broad array of enrichment activities to complement their regular academic programs
  • Literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children
  • Provides strategic, intentional programming to support a school’s efforts to meet or exceed state academic standards.
