Schools are often among the few places where vulnerable youth have consistent access to trusted adults. This important workshop equips educators, counselors, administrators, school resource officers, and support staff with the knowledge and practical skills needed to identify potential indicators of human and sex trafficking and respond effectively when concerns arise.

Participants will explore how traffickers target children and adolescents, including common recruitment tactics, online exploitation strategies, and risk factors that increase vulnerability. The session also examines the impact of trauma on student behavior, engagement, and learning, helping school professionals better understand the experiences of at-risk youth.

Using a trauma-informed framework, attendees will learn how to recognize warning signs, respond appropriately to disclosures, navigate reporting requirements, and connect students with safety-focused resources and support services. The workshop also highlights prevention strategies that schools can implement to raise awareness, strengthen protective factors, and create safer learning environments for all students.
