Academy Overview
A year-long learning experience designed to build foundational coaching knowledge, elevate coaching practice, connect participants with coaching thought leaders, and provide opportunities for reflection, application, and growth.
The Instructional Coaching Academy provides a comprehensive professional learning pathway for coaches, coaching leaders, administrators, and teacher leaders. Participants engage in four carefully designed learning experiences that combine foundational learning, advanced coaching practices, networking with nationally recognized experts, collaborative reflection, and authentic application.
Participants Will:
- Develop foundational and advanced coaching knowledge and skills
- Learn from nationally recognized coaching thought leaders
- Build a network of coaching colleagues from across the region
- Practice coaching moves through authentic scenarios and reflection
- Strengthen coaching conversations, feedback, goal-setting, and facilitation skills
- Create an intentional plan for continued coaching growth
Academy Learning Experiences
Day 1 – Instructional Coaching: Foundations

Establish a strong foundation for instructional coaching through coaching roles, approaches, coaching cycles, trust-building, active listening, questioning, paraphrasing, goal setting, and feedback.
Day 2 – Instructional Coaching Partnership Featuring Steve Barkley
Thursday, October 29, 2026 | 9:00 AM–4:00 PM | ESC Region 13 Austin
Join the Instructional Coaching Partnership and learn alongside distinguished coaching thought leader Steve Barkley. Participants will engage with the theme 'The Invisible Work of Coaching,' network with regional coaching colleagues, and participate in afternoon reflection and new learning designed to deepen coaching practice.
Day 3 – Instructional Coaching: Beyond the Basics
Wednesday, January 20, 2027 | ESC Region 13 Austin
Elevate coaching practice through advanced work in coaching conversations, PLC facilitation, goal setting, feedback, questioning, radical listening, strategic silence, and coaching impact.
Day 4 – Coaching for Special Populations with HQIM in Mind
Tuesday, May 11, 2027 | 9:00 AM–4:00 PM | ESC Region 13 Austin
Morning learning will focus on supporting special populations while maintaining the rigor of HQIM. The afternoon includes scenario-based practice, reflection, goal setting for the coming year, collaborative planning, and a certificate celebration.
