Coaching PLC Teams Workshop

Presented by the Region 13 PLC Services team, this two-day workshop is grounded in leading research and practical experience supporting teams in achieving student-learning goals. Drawing on the work of experts such as the DuFours, Jim Knight, Elena Aguilar, Paul Bloomberg, Barbara Pitchford, Diane Sweeney, and Steve Barkley, this training introduces a partnership-based approach and a structured coaching cycle for Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).

Participants will learn to:

  • Identify coaching roles and differentiate support based on a team’s developmental stage
  • Build cultures of trust, collaboration, vulnerability, and interdependence
  • Apply a coaching cycle to guide team growth and goal achievement
  • Develop questioning and active listening techniques to support team autonomy
  • Navigate resistance and strengthen team engagement

Each participant will receive Cards for Coaching: PLC Edition—a scenario-based tool designed to build coaching skills and prompt reflective dialogue.
