Texas Dyslexia Academy Module 1: Dyslexia Foundations

Welcome to Texas Dyslexia Academy 1: Dyslexia Foundations, the first in a comprehensive series of seven training opportunities to support school districts and charter schools in addressing dyslexia and related disorders. This foundational course provides crucial insights into reading development and some students' challenges.

• Elements of Reading: Explore how students acquire reading skills and the components contributing to successful reading development.
• Understanding Dyslexia: Learn to clearly define dyslexia, its characteristics, and how it differs from other reading difficulties.
• Risk Factors: Identify common risk factors associated with dyslexia to understand better which students may be at higher risk.
• Academic Difficulties and Related Conditions: Learn about the academic challenges dyslexia can present and other conditions that may accompany it.
