Reports To: TEKS Resource System Director

Salary: This is a 12-month, full-time, 232 day position with a minimum annual salary of $84,341.

Primary Purpose: Develop and update curriculum, assessment, and resources for K-12 ELAR as well as provide professional development.

Required Qualifications:
  • Texas Teacher Certification in ELAR or related field
  • Five (5) years classroom teaching experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
  • Wide-ranging knowledge of ELAR content K-12
  • Current knowledge of curriculum trends, instruction, technology, assessment, and school systems
  • Supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's or advanced degree
  • Leadership position at campus or district level
Major Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
  • Serve as a representative of the Texas Curriculum Management Program Cooperative (TCMPC) and ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public
  • Responsible for the development, revision, and enhancement of curriculum, assessment and related resources.
  • Analyze data, feedback, and TEA materials and initiatives to determine areas for development and enhancements in English Language Arts
  • Manage development processes including workflows, timelines, and contracts according to the calendar of the State Board of Education and the needs of the TEKS Resource System clients
  • Stay current with trends in the areas of curriculum, instruction, technology, assessment, state/federal accountability, and school systems
  • Build strong relationships with TCMPC stakeholders, TEA/SBOE, and professional organizations
  • Maintain an internal file management system (SharePoint) for the retention and development of content
  • Collaborate and manage work with the TEKS Resource System technology provider on the creation and delivery of TEKS Resource System components
  • Direct, train, and collaborate with internal staff, external contractors, focus groups, and state-wide ESC leaders and specialist in the ongoing development of curriculum, assessment, and resources
  • Oversee project goals and timelines
  • Hire, supervise, and evaluate internal designated staff and external contractors
  • Organize and lead district and statewide professional development and training on all TCMPC components
  • Conduct statewide analysis and synthesize content-related feedback
  • Develop and monitor an ELAR budget
  • Collaborate with the Director in developing the TCMPC budget
  • Perform other duties as assigned
