Turbo Start: A Dyslexia Curriculum for Newly Identified Students with Dyslexia
- Austin (Main Campus)
- 6 CPE Credits
- $100

The Turbo Start curriculum, written by the Scottish Rite for Children, is a nine-week, evidence-based dyslexia intervention designed to provide a jump start for newly identified students of all ages who need comprehensive dyslexia intervention while awaiting placement in an intervention group. Derived from the evidence-based dyslexia curriculum, Turbo Start provides foundational training in the five components of effective reading instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension. Each component is taught developmentally using a direct, systematic, cumulative, multi-sensory method of introduction and practice to meet specific needs of newly identified students with dyslexia.
Participants will implement the Turbo Start curriculum and assess its effectiveness as a nine-week, evidence-based early intervention for students with dyslexia awaiting placement in long-term programs. A unique feature of Turbo Start is the flexible drop-in, drop-out design, giving educators a flexible starting point to give newly identified students with dyslexia. Therefore, a student doesn’t need to complete all 36 Turbo Start lessons before transitioning to the beginning of a direct, systematic, sequential, and cumulative dyslexia program.
