Homeless Education Coop (McKinney-Vento)

Students experiencing homelessness have specific rights, and districts must adhere to regulations designed to protect and empower students and families experiencing homelessness.

ESC Region 13's McKinney-Vento (Homeless) Education Cooperative provides opportunities for homeless liaisons, administrators, counselors, and other interested school staff to learn more about critical topics related to homelessness, and network with each other. The cooperative meets multiple times a year to hear from guest speakers, and to receive:

  • program guidance that ensures students experiencing homelessness receive high-quality services and education
  • expert consultation designed to improve program implementation and efficacy
  • updates to state and federal regulations
  • additional resources specific to the unique needs of the cooperative.LEA

McKinney-Vento Cooperative Membership includes:

  • VIP Hour - Coats for Kids (contingent on Region 13 being selected as surplus site)
