Region 13 offers programs dedicated to developing student leadership, working with Franklin Covey and utilizing the Leader in Me Extended Learning Time curriculum to support students and staff.
Leader in Me Extended Learning Time is a comprehensive K–12 framework that nurtures student leadership, fosters a culture of trust, and boosts academic success. The approach empowers students, educators, and families with essential leadership and life skills.
7 Habits Guided Discovery Model
Teens discover and internalize the leadership competencies to lead themselves and lead others through a high-impact, customized 7 Habits experience. Active engagement, gamification, and self-reflection enable teens to explore paradigms, principles, and practices of the 7 Habits, discovering who they are, who they want to become, and how to lead others.
Teach-to-Learn Experience
Bring real-world experience to teens 16+, allowing them to embark on a profoundly personal and professional journey. Districts and communities provide teens with internships, paid employment, or mentorship in summer learning or camp programs.
Participants will:
- Experience The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People in a guided discovery model
- Learn how to teach an innovative curriculum for younger students—7 Habits Imagination Series
- Reflect on their experience to learn more about themselves, life, and career paths
- Explore their passion and interest through a Leadership project culminating in goal setting for their future using the 4 Disciplines of Execution®.
7 Habits Imagination Series
Imagine a school curriculum that fosters creativity, connection, and fun while developing leadership and life skills. The 7 Habits Imagination Series student curriculum embeds the fun of collaborative games and social connection and the principles of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The students unleash their creativity through an interactive and reflective student journal.
Staff Development
To further support students, staff can participate in a personal and professional journey to gain the mindset, skill set, and tools to deliver an after-school curriculum and create a safe and caring culture where students feel a sense of belonging while developing leadership and life skills.
K-5 Exploration Series
Students will go through a program and have access to the following:
- Leadership and life skill competencies
- 28 weeks of lessons
- Multi-age grouping (K–1, 2–3, 4–5)
- 20 minutes a day for exploration
- 10 minutes a day for wellness activity
Staff Development: A personal and professional journey
Staff participates in a personal and professional journey where they gain the mindset, skill set, and tools to deliver an after-school curriculum and create a safe and caring culture where students feel a sense of belonging while developing leadership and life skills.
