Evaluating ‘’Specific” Specific Learning Disabilities using a Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses Model: Dysgraphia
Join us for a session on best practices for identifying dysgraphia. With the requirements under new state laws and the Texas Education Agency's Specific Learning Disability Identification Guidance, and the implications of the new 2024 Dyslexia Handbook, evaluators have been challenged to question their current practices.
We will focus on typical writing development to better understand atypical writing patterns and how to plan effective evaluations. Participants will gain hands-on experience in evaluating writing by combining writing samples with norm-referenced testing methods to improve both reliability and confidence in their assessments.

About the Presenter:
Dr. Edward K. Schultz is the founder and architect of the C-SEP and a Professor of Special Education at Midwestern State University. With extensive experience in SLD identification and training, Dr. Schultz has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and conducted training across the country in collaboration with state departments of education.
